Sugar and spice and everything nice! Treat yourself to Christmas in Asheville, and visit Biltmore Estate, America’s largest home. The entire estate is at its most enchanting as can­dlelight Christmas evenings feature flickering candles, glowing fireplaces, more than 100 decorated trees, thousands of ornaments and twinkling lights, and an array of festive dis­plays. Visit the Grove Park Inn for the amaz­ing gingerbread house display. Spend an eve­ning exploring the Winter Lights at North Carolina Arboretum. Enjoy an included dinner at Biltmore Estate, a holiday breakfast at his­toric Grove Park Inn, and dinner at Stone Ridge Tavern.  

Day 1 - Tuesday - December 1
Travel to Asheville/  Winter Lights Exhibit at North Carolina Arboretum

Welcome to this Winter Wonderland Tour! Journey south to Asheville, North Carolina, and experience the finest of the holiday sea­son! Accommodations await us in the heart of the city. This evening we’ll enjoy dinner at the Stone Ridge Tavern, and at dusk we’ll explore the Winter Lights exhibit at North Carolina Ar­boretum. The gardens are blanketed by thou­sands of lights for the season, with the colorful quilt garden being one of the most beautiful. Sip cocoa, sing carols and stroll through the various exhibits, including a miniature train dis­play. Return to our Inn for a restful evening. (D)

Day 2 - Wednesday - December 2
Folk Art Center / Biltmore Estate Gardens / Antler Hill Village / Candlelight Tour - Biltmore Estate

This morning we’ll visit the Folk Art Center showcasing the finest in traditional and contemporary crafts of the Southern Appalachians. Guild artisans demonstrate a variety of arts and crafts in the Folk Art Center lobby. Afterwards, continue to the Biltmore Estate to visit the gardens and Antler Hill Village filled with dining and shopping opportunities. The best is yet to come ... as dusk settles over the city we’ll enjoy a holiday dinner and the annual Christmas Candlelight Tour at the magnificent Biltmore Estate. Over 500 luminaries cast a warm glow as we enter this incredible estate, the 225-room French Renaissance chalet, home of George Vanderbilt. Crackling fires, glittering trees, and hundreds of candles glow through­out rooms richly decorated for an old-fashioned Victorian Christmas. This is a holiday experi­ence we’ll long remember! (B,D)

Day 3 - Thursday - December 3

Grove Park Inn / Gingerbread Houses / Travel Home

This morning we’ll visit the iconic Omni Grove Park Inn to see the amazing display of ginger­bread houses. People from across the country create these culinary sugar and spice master­pieces for competition in this annual event. En­joy an included breakfast in the Blue Ridge Dining Room and warm by the giant fireplaces in the grand lobby. By early-afternoon we’ll board our coach for the trip home, bringing with us cherished memories of this special holiday tour. (B)

Join us for this enchanting journey to a place where holiday traditions come alive with dazzling lights, historic charm, and festive cheer. This tour combines spectacular performances, dining, and breathtaking holiday displays to create unforgettable memories. In Lancaster, visit American Music Theatre for their great Winter Wonderland Show. In Brandywine Valley we’ll view holiday displays at Nemours, the country Estate of Alfred duPont; experience the beauty of winter at spectacular Longwood Gardens; and visit Winterthur Museum and Gardens. A wonderful time is in store for us on this Yuletide Tour. 

Day 1 - Wednesday - December 2
Travel to Pennsylvania / American Music Theatre Show

Good Morning! Winter is in the air as we travel north to enjoy delightful Christmas treasures. Our first stop will be in Lancaster for a fine lunch at the Steamboat Inn known for its charming ambiance and delightful cuisine. On to American Music Theatre - prepare to be swept away by the wonderful stage production, Winter Wonderland. This show features vocalists, dancers, musicians, stunning costumes, and elaborate sets all celebrating the spirit of the season. Later we’ll travel to the heart of Brandywine Valley where accommodations await at the excellent Mendenhall Inn. Enjoy a free evening for individual interests. (L)

Day 2 - Thursday - December 3
Nemours / Buckley’s Tavern / Longwood Gardens

Enjoy a morning visit to Nemours, the country estate of Alfred duPont, built to resemble a French Chateau. At Christmastime this magnificent 77-room mansion is transformed into a holiday wonderland adorned with exquisite decorations, festive trees, and twinkling lights. It’s a Christmas extravaganza! An included lunch will be enjoyed at nearby Buckley’s Tavern, a favorite local restaurant. Bundle up this evening - we’re headed for Longwood Gardens where a half million lights come aglow. Stroll through pathways adorned with trees, and view the conservatories with over four acres of seasonal decorations and displays. The sights and smells will fill us with delight as we enjoy this amazing evening. (B,L

Day 3 - Friday - December 4

Winterthur / Travel Home

This morning we step into Winterthur, the magnificent Henry Francis duPont estate with its 175-room home all adorned with holiday finery, illuminated trees, and breathtaking decorations all reminiscent of the holiday traditions of centuries past. After lunch on our own we’ll board the coach for the trip home. (B)

The holiday season is upon us, and this is the perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit! From the charming traditional decorations of Colonial Williamsburg to Newport News Celebration in Lights to Virginia Beach’s Holiday Lights at the Beach display, this will be a holiday to remember! 

Day 1 - Tuesday - December 8
Travel to Colonial Williamsburg / Newport News Celebration in Lights / The Founders Inn 

All aboard our motor coach bound for Williamsburg where lunch is included at Old Chickahominy House, featuring down-home southern cooking in an 18th century house. We’ll continue on to Colonial Williamsburg, the largest living history museum in the nation. As we stroll along cobblestone streets, we’ll meet residents going about their daily activities just as their ancestors did more than 200 years ago. The charming decorations and enduring traditions give us a glimpse of the holiday season as it was in the early days of our nation. Soon we check into The Founders Inn, our home for the next two nights. After dinner on our own, we’ll continue in the holiday spirit as we drive through the Newport News Celebration in Lights experience. This two-mile drive features more than one million lights, animated holiday scenes, and an amazing lightshow. We return to the Inn for a restful evening. (L) 

Day 2 - Wednesday - December 9
Norfolk Touring / Virginia Beach Holiday Lights 

Our day begins with a tour of the Chrysler Museum of Art, home of automotive heir Walter P. Chrysler, Jr.’s extensive art collection. At Perry Glass Studio we’ll watch a demonstration of glassblowing and see one of the country’s top glass collections. Enjoy lunch on our own in downtown Norfolk before returning to the Inn. This evening dinner is included at Rockafeller’s Restaurant, known for its fresh local seafood. Next we’ll enjoy Virginia Beach’s Holiday Lights at the Beach as we drive along the Boardwalk. Marvel at Nautical and Holiday themed lights displayed against the backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean and set to seasonal music. (B,D) 

Day 3 - Thursday - December 10 

Berkeley Plantation / Travel Home  

Free time this morning to enjoy the amenities of our inn before starting our journey home. We’ll visit Berkeley Plantation in Charles City for a guided tour of one of America’s first plantations. The house is beautifully decorated for the holiday season, and costumed guides regale us with stories of Christmas at Berkeley through four centuries of history. All too soon we must board the coach and travel home, bringing the Christmas spirit with us. (B)
