Enjoy two great shows - the amazing classic The Sound of Music at Toby’s Dinner Theatre, and The Christmas Candy Caper at Bird-in-Hand Theatre in Lancaster! A wonderful time is in store for us on this YuletideTour.

    Day 1 - Wednesday - December 4
Sound of Music at Toby’s Dinner Theatre / Travel to Pennsylvania

Good morning! Join fellow travelers as we journey north to enjoy delightful Christmas treasures. Mid-morning we arrive at Toby’s Dinner Theatre in Columbia, Maryland, for a delectable lunch followed by The Sound of Music. This beloved musical tells the story of Maria who does not fit in at the abbey where she is living. While she means well, she is constantly in trouble. She is sent to be the governess for the seven children of stern widower, Captain von Trapp, where this story unfolds into a charming tale of love and courage. With music by Rogers and Hammerstein, this show is filled with glorious songs: Do-Re-Mi; My Favorite Things; Edelweiss; So Long, Farewell; and, of course, The Sound of Music. We continue on to the Mendenhall Inn in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, for our free evening and two-night stay. (L)

    Day 2 - Thursday - December 5
    Nemours / Buckley’s Tavern / Longwood Gardens

Enjoy a morning visit to Nemours, the country estate of Alfred DuPont, built to resemble a French Chateau. While beautiful all year round, at Christmastime this mansion takes on a glittering appearance with decorated trees in each room, sweeping staircases with swags of evergreen boughs, and stunning fresh flowers adorning the house. It’s a Christmas extravaganza! An included lunch will be enjoyed at nearby Buckley’s Tavern, a favorite local restaurant. This evening finds us at Longwood Gardens where a half million lights come aglow during the holiday season. Visit the conservatory with over four acres of seasonal decorations and spectacular displays. The sights and smells will fill us with delight as we enjoy this amazing evening! (B,L)

    Day 3 - Friday - December 6

The Christmas Candy Caper at Bird-in-Hand Theatre

Following breakfast we travel a short distance to Lancaster in the heart of Penn Dutch Country. Enjoy free time to visit Bird-in-Hand Market before arriving at Bird-in-Hand Theatre for an included lunch and show. Settle back in reserved seats for the holiday show, The Christmas Candy Caper. After years of playing pranks and crying “wolf,” candy store owner Lydia Miller experiences real life when two men break into her shop to steal her coveted candy recipe. They kidnap her instead resulting in a hilarious battle between the kidnappers, the police, the bishop, the mayor, and family members. It’s a sticky, gooey, hilarious holiday mess! Following our show we’ll board our coach for the trip home. (B,L)
