Visit the coastal islands of St. Simons and Jekyll along the Atlantic Ocean. Weathered by sun, wind, and rain, they were a playground for the rich and famous of the gilded age. See vast marshlands, oaks draped with Spanish moss, and glorious beaches. Explore Savannah, a jewel of the Ole South steeped in Southern charm and hospitality. Discover this charming city filled with historic landmarks, antebellum homes, monuments, and the waterfront, a busy port for oceanliners. Added attractions are a dolphin watch cruise and haunted trolley tour.
Day 1 * Sunday * October 21
Welcome aboard our motorcoach bound for historic Savannah. Get acquainted with fellow travelers on our southern journey. Upon arrival enjoy a three night stay in our hotel located in the historic district. A free evening allows time for individual interests.
Day 2 * Monday * October 22
Join our local guide for a historic Savannah tour. Experience southern charm firsthand as we view antebellum mansions, historic buildings, monuments and squares. Visit nearby Old Fort Jackson, the oldest standing brick fortification in Georgia dating back to the Civil War. See the military exhibits and experience cannon firing demonstrations. Afterwards enjoy a dolphin watch cruise offering an opportunity to view playful bottlenose dolphins in their natural habitat. (B,D)
Day 3 * Tuesday * October 23
This morning travel south to Jekyll Island covered with oak trees, Spanish moss and palmetto. Enjoy a tram tour of “Millionaire’s Village,” once the playground of the rich and famous. Enjoy lunch at the prestigious Jekyll Island Club Hotel. This afternoon visit quaint St. Simons Island, the largest of the Golden Isles. Moss covered oaks and ocean breezes weave the past and present together as our guide narrates delightful stories of these barrier islands. Stroll on the grounds of beautiful historic Christ Church. Time to browse at St. Simons Pier before returning to Savannah for the evening. (B,L)
Day 4 * Wednesday * October 24
Our Low Country tour takes us into Ardsley Park filled with fashionable European style residences. See Savannah’s own “Extreme Home Makeover,” then continue on to see where Paula Deen had her first restaurant, and drive past the chapel where she was married. Our tour ends on River Street for an afternoon of individual sightseeing. This evening’s haunted trolley tour filled with ghosts and gravestones shows us the “dark side” of the city. (B,L)

Memories of a delightful tour with newfound friends are on our minds as we journey home. (B)
