A “PEACHY” TOUR OF GEORGIA
ATLANTA - STONE MOUNTAIN - CALLAWAY GARDENS

APRIL 19-22, 2012

TOUR #12008

4 DAYS / 3 NIGHTS
7 MEALS = 3B, 1L, 3D

It’s a “peachy vacation” in Georgia.  We’ll experience the unique flavor of the South as we visit Atlanta and its Cable News Network, Georgia Aquarium, and memorable Stone Mountain. Explore Callaway Gardens, where something is always in bloom; Day Butterfly Center; and Warm Springs, FDR’s much loved Little White House.    It’s a favorite destination that we’re sure to enjoy!

Day 1 * Thursday * April 19
This morning we board our motorcoach  and head south to Atlanta for a three-night stay.    This evening enjoy a get acquainted dinner. Toot, toot, it’s at a train station!  (D)

Day 2 * Friday * April 20
The sights and sounds of Atlanta come alive on our locally guided morning sightseeing tour.  See the gold-domed State Capitol as well as other highlights of the downtown area.  Our next stop is CNN for an enjoyable behind the scenes tour followed by a visit to Centennial Olympic Park, site of the 1996 Olympic Games.  Then explore the Georgia Aquarium, one of the world’s largest, and home to over 100,000 animals.  Visit Stone Mountain Park, home to the world’s largest exposed mass of granite.  Enjoy a skyride to the top for a  close-up look at the carvings.  Also see Memorial Hall, an Antebellum Mansion, and Crossroads, a recreated 1870's town.  This evening we dine at Mary Mac’s Tea Room  (B,D)

Day 3 * Saturday * April 21
Motor south to Warm Springs, home to FDR’s  Little White House.  The President spent time here hoping to find a cure for polio in the Warm Springs water.  Lunch is included; we’ll love those fried green tomatoes, a delicacy in the south. Next visit Callaway Gardens in the foothills of the Appalachians.  Spring brings an explosion of color to the gardens.  Tour the conservatory, home of more than 1,000 tropical butterflies.  Return to Atlanta and enjoy our farewell dinner at Pitty Pat’s Porch.  (B,L,D)

Day 4 * Sunday * April 22
Following breakfast at our hotel, we board our coach and head for home with Georgia on our minds and in our hearts!  (B)
