HEART  OF THE CHESAPEAKE BAY
Annapolis & Dover

SEPTEMBER 16-18, 2012

TOUR #12030

3 DAYS / 2 NIGHTS
2 MEALS = 2B

The heart of the Chesapeake Bay beckons us to discover the proud heritage of this area while exploring and appreciating its present day vibrancy.  We’ll visit the State Capitol and United States Naval Academy in Annapolis; and the Air Mobility Command Museum, the Victrola Museum, and the State Police Museum in Dover.  Spend two nights at Dover Downs Casino Resort, a gaming mecca featuring live entertainment and an award-winning casino.  Come feel the “heartbeat” of the Bay!

Day 1 * Sunday * September 16
Our tour director and driver welcome us aboard our motorcoach for the trip to Dover, Delaware, and the four diamond Dover Downs Hotel & Casino where we’ll  enjoy a two-night stay.  This hotel features 24-hour gaming, hours of excitement, and an abundance of dining and shopping opportunities.

Day 2 * Monday * September 17
History abounds here in Dover.  We’ll step back in time at the Victrola Museum exploring the sound-recording industry from its beginning.  Exhibits included phonographs, recordings, memorabilia, trademarks and paintings.  On to the Air Mobility Command Museum, the only museum dedicated to airlift and air refueling history.  The story of military aviation comes alive through exhibits and a collection of planes used throughout history, many of which made it possible for the USA to win the numerous wars and to retain our country’s freedom.  We’ll also visit the State Police Museum before returning to our hotel with free time for gaming or other recreation.  (B)

Day 3 * Tuesday * September 18
This morning discover the capital city of Annapolis, Maryland, home of the U. S. Naval Academy.  During our naval base tour peek inside Bancroft Hall, the largest single dormitory in the world, and visit the Chapel where the crypt of John Paul Jones is located.  Discover the heritage of three centuries at the Old State House.  Dating back to 1772, it is the oldest state house in continuous use in the United States, and its dome is topped by the largest lightning rod ever designed by Benjamin Franklin.  Visit the city dock harboring wooden-hulled schooners and skipjacks.  By mid-afternoon we’ll board our coach for the trip home, carrying the “heart” of the Chesapeake Bay home in our own hearts and minds.  (B)
